You will find that Oregon offers many types of truck driving jobs, from local driving jobs to over-the-road truck driving. As a truck driver, a lot of travel throughout the state is on highways that wind through wooded areas, including the Wallowa Mountains, the Umatilla National Forest, and the Willamette National Forest (where Mt. Hood is located).

Oregon Industries
Many industries have a great need for qualified truck drivers. The lumber and paper industries, and the fishing industry all employ qualified truck drivers. There are many niches in the agriculture industry that need truck drivers as well, since Oregon is a major producer of domestic black berries, raspberries, boysenberries, and hazelnuts.

Oregon Interstates

  • I-5 is the major north and south interstate in Oregon. The state’s most populated cities are connected by I-5, including Portland, Salem, Eugene, and Medford.

  • I-84 runs through the northeast corner of the state. It enters eastern Oregon at the Idaho/Oregon border, and continues in a northwest direction until Pendleton, where it then heads west, following the Columbia River.

  • US Route 20 crosses the entire state in an east and west direction. US Route 20 is a good way for regional drivers to make pickups and deliveries. US Route 20 crosses the entire United States, beginning in Newport, Oregon and ending in Boston, Massachusetts.

  • Oregon Route 140 is in the south-central area of the state. It is the best way to get from Klamath Falls, Oregon to northern California.

  • US Route 97is a north and south highway that begins near The Dalles, in northern Oregon, and continues south to Klamath Falls. It connects Bend and Klamath Falls.

Oregon is the headquarters of the Nike company.
Oregon has several different landscapes throughout the state, including large forests and beautiful deserts.
Multnomah Falls, just outside of Portland, is one of the largest natural waterfalls in the western United States.
